Jane Doe No More Whistleblower Policy

Purpose

Jane Doe No More is committed to maintaining a workplace where honesty, integrity, and accountability are the hallmarks of our culture. This Whistleblower Policy is intended to encourage and protect individuals who raise concerns regarding suspected misconduct, illegal activity, or violation of organizational policies.

Scope
This policy applies to all Jane Doe No More employees, board members, volunteers, contractors, interns, and program participants.

What to Report
Examples of reportable actions include, but are not limited to:

  • Fraud, theft, or misuse of organizational resources

  • Harassment or discrimination

  • Ethical violations or conflicts of interest

  • Unsafe work conditions

  • Violations of law, regulations, or funding requirements

  • Retaliation against individuals who report concerns in good faith

Reporting Procedure
Reports can be made:

  • In writing or verbally to the President or Board Chair

  • Anonymously, if preferred, via a sealed envelope labeled “Confidential – Whistleblower Concern” mailed to:

  • If the concern involves leadership, reports may be directed to another Board Officer.

Confidentiality
Every effort will be made to keep the identity of the whistleblower confidential, consistent with the need to conduct a thorough investigation and comply with legal obligations.

Protection from Retaliation
Jane Doe No More strictly prohibits retaliation against anyone who, in good faith, reports a concern or participates in an investigation. Retaliation includes harassment, demotion, loss of job duties, or other adverse actions.

Any person who retaliates against a whistleblower will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination or removal from the Board.

Investigation
All reported concerns will be investigated promptly and discreetly. The organization will determine the appropriate resolution and corrective action based on the findings.

False Reports
Knowingly making false accusations is a serious offense and may result in disciplinary action. This policy is not a vehicle for personal grievances or unfounded claims.

Policy Review
This policy shall be reviewed annually by the Board of Directors and updated as necessary to ensure compliance with applicable laws and best practices.
