Get to Know Us

We envision a society that no longer spreads doubt, instills fear, casts shame or places blame on survivors of sexual crimes.

Jane Doe No More® is a national 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded in 2007. Our mission is to empower survivors of sexual crimes to find their voice, advance their healing, and educate others.

The organization was founded by Donna Palomba, whose lived experience as a survivor of sexual assault and the revictimization she faced when reporting the crime exposed critical gaps in how survivors are treated and believed. Her experience helped catalyze meaningful legislative change in Connecticut, including the removal of the statute of limitations for sexual crimes involving DNA evidence.

Our programs are survivor led and include women and men who courageously share their lived experiences with a variety of audiences. Through prevention education and awareness initiatives, as well as support for survivors to advance their healing and help educate others, these programs increase understanding, reduce stigma, and help survivors know they are not alone and that healing is possible. By reaching diverse audiences, we strengthen prevention and awareness efforts while advancing survivor healing.

Sexual crimes are among the most misunderstood and underreported crimes worldwide. By addressing these topics in clear, trauma-informed ways, we create safer spaces for prevention and make it easier for survivors to come forward.

Now in our second decade of service, we remain deeply committed to driving meaningful change through education, advocacy, and impactful programs and initiatives.

Our Impact in 2025

In 2025, Jane Doe No More had a presence at 81 events and engagements, including schools, workplaces, community programs, media appearances, podcasts, and fundraising events. Each opportunity sparked meaningful conversation, expanded awareness, strengthened prevention efforts, and empowered survivors with the message that healing is possible.

This year we trained women and girls through 15 classes designed to help them stay safe physically, emotionally, and intellectually. Since the program’s inception in 2009, we have hosted over 188 classes and trained more than 6900+ participants, equipping them with confidence, awareness, and the practical skills to protect themselves.

Our Safe Student Initiative has a proven track record of creating safe spaces for students to speak up. 90% of the time, after a presentation, at least one student has come forward to disclose to our trained survivor speakers. Since 2015, we have reached thousands of students at 213 schools, educating them about consent, sexual respect, and healthy relationships.

Most victims of sexual crimes suffer in silence. Through our Survivors Speak workshops, we help survivors find their voice and share their stories. We host two workshops every year, and since 2011, we have coached 95 survivors through 20 workshops. Today, we have 72 members continuing to inspire and educate others.

This past year, through our Duty Trumps Doubt program, we engaged with college students studying victimology. By educating them on the profound impact of sexual crimes on survivors, we equip future professionals to respond with compassion and care. This work is essential in changing the reality that 75% of victims never report sexual crimes, ensuring that every survivor is treated with dignity, respect, and support.

Our volunteers are the heart of Jane Doe No More. Board members guide and govern our organization, program partners and the Survivors Speak Outreach Team bring our programs directly to communities, and committee members support events both large and small. Together, they dedicate hundreds of hours of their time and talent, believing in survivors, safer communities, and a future where sexual crimes are prevented through education, awareness, and empowerment.

This year, we produced 11 Voice2Change podcasts dedicated to education, prevention, and survivor support, featuring interviews with experts in trauma, medicine, law, and more. Through these episodes, we share knowledge, guidance, and resources that help communities prevent sexual crimes and empower survivors.

We continue to expand awareness through our social media, closed Facebook group, and e-newsletter, reaching a diverse audience with critical education, resources, and support. In 2025 alone, these platforms allowed us to engage thousands of community members, survivors, students, and professionals sparking conversations, promoting prevention, and connecting people to the help they need.

Testimonials

When I was a junior in high school, that’s when I realized I was abused. I spoke up for the first time and was actually listened to.
