Donna Palomba, founder of Jane Doe No More, Inc. and three Chiefs of Police from Connecticut and New York presented ‘Across State Lines: Jane Doe No More’ on Tuesday, October 26, 2010 at the IACP conference in Orlando.
“We are thrilled to have the opportunity to present to senior law enforcement from all around the country and beyond.” commented Donna, “This is an important step in creating the change that needs to occur to break stigmas and prevent re-victimization that surrounds the complex and under-reported crime of sexual assault.”
Jane Doe No More, Inc. teamed up with Mom & Pop Films of Easton, CT and Quinnipiac University to develop ‘Duty Trumps Doubt’, a roll call video for law enforcement responding to a sexual assault crime. Everyone attending this workshop will receive a free copy of the video and it is the goal of Jane Doe No More to give this video to police departments across the country at no cost.

“This video is intended to build upon the police training that already takes place. We hope it will serve as a powerful reminder to treat each victim with dignity and respect and to always keep an open mind.” remarked Chief Neil O’Leary, Wolcott, CT PD, former chief of Waterbury, CT PD and Jane Doe No More board member. “A variety of survivors and law enforcement are featured along with compelling scenes that underscore that each victim and scenario is different and that you only have one chance to get it right.”
“Prior to the launch at the convention, senior law enforcement from several different states viewed the video, and the feedback has been incredible – we are very encouraged. We believe that the ‘roll call video model’ of enhanced education works really well and can have a lasting impact.” said Chief John Buturla, Stratford, CT PD, and Vice President of Jane Doe No More.
The making of ‘Duty Trumps Doubt” has been an amazing collaborative of creative professionals, law enforcement officers, sexual assault survivors, educators, medical experts and college students. This experience has had a profound impact on everyone involved. With continued support, this will be the first of many multi-media tools developed by Jane Doe No More to raise awareness and educate everyone across the country, including our children.
