Tim Banker

Tim is currently Digital Strategy Lead for
The Hartford Financial Services Group, in Hartford, CT. He has worked in the insurance and financial services industry since 2005 with roles in Commercial Lines Actuarial, Enterprise Architecture, IT Communications, Enterprise Content Management and Personal Lines Marketing and eCommerce. Previously he was a manager in the Technology Leadership Development Program. Prior to his career in insurance and financial services, Tim worked in IT Services supporting the defense industry for 3 years.
He is also currently an open source theme (
PitchDark) developer in the Mozilla community and has deployed software solutions for the
Muslim Soup Kitchen Project, a non-profit out of Troy, NY.
Tim holds a dual Bachelor's of Science in Information Technology (Web Technologies) and Computer Science with a Minor in Economics from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. While at Rensselaer he was a member of both Gamma Nu Eta (IT National Honor Society) and Upsilon Pi Epsilon (CS National Honor Society). He is an active member of the RPI Alumni Association - Hartford Chapter and serves as the Web Director.
Tim has a wide array of interests including drums, guitar, music, soccer, snowboarding, basketball, mountain/road biking, triathlons, tennis, golf, frisbee, foosball, heeling, footbag, rallying, cars, motorcycles, open source movement, information visualization, web standards, new technologies, gadgets.
